Just Breathe: The Call to Slow Down
“Just breathe.” That's what I keep telling myself! Breathwork! Take a hot min. There is no rush. Enjoy this process. Feel through every raw lil piece. Life. All the things. The launch of this site and the new path I am wearing on my sleeve for the world to see has always been a private whisper. We all have that. Intuition. Voice inside. Calling. This thing nags at our soul when we are out of alignment.
It wasn't until I slowed down. Intentionally slowed down even when life was coming at me mach chicken, that I was able to sit and listen. Tune in. Remember what it was I wanted for myself to then be able to offer this to others and have it hold real weight. Purpose. What we do. How we give back.
Purpose Beyond the Chair: Lessons from the Pandemic
The ol plague from 2020 really made almost everyone question just about everything. Deep feelers into one's authentic surrender. Essential businesses were a select few on the roster. My job not being one of them. My lil hair business, “All That Jazz”, had to close its doors briefly. Being a hair stylist is just surface stuff, right? Looks? No. Not really. Not to me. Not for anyone who has been behind the chair with an open heart to the people that sit with you for hours on end. It gets deep.
“Hairapy” sessions that invite friendships from all walks of life. I have learned to hold some serious space behind the chair. Space for all kinds of people. People who held space right back for me in every season of my life. 20 yrs! Children... a divorce from... you know.
Kinship Over Paychecks: Building Real Connections
Although I had to do this work to survive. It wasn't the paycheck that was filling my boots. Honest. The hair service was about creating a chosen kinship. People who would truly listen. Who invested as much as I was them. To spend decades caring for these rare connections that continued through all the chaos life throws. Through moves. Through pregnancies. It has been a real pleasure. The experience is the best payment. A true exchange of self.
I have seen many people come and go. Made besties with my rent-a-granny, who is a few days shy of 97! Some didn’t jive. Others have passed. Lots. In fact, as of late. I trust that the people who have really gotten to know me know that I am an authentic cat. Always TMI! People-pleasing where it counts. That's been a real lesson! I lean into every little thing with a full heart. No matter how it's received.
Walking The Talk - Inspiration From Motherhood
This next journey with Gem & Co is full of heart! From the heart. I want to offer help to people the same way I do my family. The inspo. Motherhood. This is quite the hood! You are never the same! It tears you down and builds you up! I wouldn't change that experience for the world. Those boys, my two boys, have given me the courage to find my voice in places I never knew I could have one.
This next bit, this business here that you are now aligned with on this site, is all part of walking that talk. Using that voice. Stepping into the role, sharing what I have watched my dearest friends do over the years. They have changed my life. Helping raise my lil men with awareness of things I knew was going to help rewrite our story for the future.

Ya know the whole stress is a killer thing. Just stress less bit? Ya know there's a pill for that... In addition to all the new medicines, we need to collaborate with nature. I'm talking about the OG. The grounded nature that we come from. Relax, slow down, and feel through it all. Timing is everything. Tis divine. It's this present moment of life. Take that time. To choose what makes sense to us. That simple authentic act creates a ripple. A genuine magnet that influences others to do the same!
