“Just Breath.”
Slow down. Take a minute. There is no rush.
A Note from Jazzy
“Just breathe.” That’s what I kept telling myself as I stepped into this next chapter. Slow down. Feel each piece of it. Let it arrive in its own time.
Gem & Co. has been a whisper in my heart for years — the quiet nudge that wouldn’t leave me alone. I think we all have that voice inside, the one that tugs at us when we’re a little out of rhythm with ourselves. Mine kept saying, “There’s something more you’re meant to hold space for.”
It wasn’t until I intentionally slowed down — even when life was moving mock-chicken speed — that I could finally hear it. And once I heard it, I couldn’t ignore it.
Holding Space Has Always Been My Work
For more than 20 years, I’ve been behind the salon chair at All That Jazz, listening, sharing, laughing, crying, and creating a chosen kinship with the people who sat with me. Yes, hair is part of it — but really, it’s always been about the conversations, the connection, the way people would arrive one way and leave just a little lighter.
I’ve held space for people through every season: moves, marriages, breakups, babies, and goodbyes. Some clients became lifelong friends. One is just shy of 96 and still makes me laugh every time. Others have passed on, leaving me deeply grateful for the time we shared.
It wasn’t the paycheque that kept me in it — it was the exchange. The trust. The mutual showing-up.
The Shift
When the world paused in 2020, I — like so many — started asking bigger questions about what really matters. What am I giving my time and energy to? How do I want to show up for my family, my friends, my community… and myself?
Motherhood cracked me wide open. My two boys have been my greatest teachers, showing me how courage isn’t always loud — sometimes it’s simply standing in your truth and using your voice. They’ve given me the push to step into something new, something aligned, something deeply needed.
Why Gem & Co. Exists
This work is about offering people the same care and steadiness I give my own family. A place where you can step out of the rush, out of the noise, and simply be.
No small talk unless you want it. No performance. No “fixing” you. Just a warm, uncluttered space where your body can rest, your mind can soften, and your system can recalibrate in its own way.
It’s an invitation to return to the grounded nature we all come from — without rushing, without overexplaining, without apology.
My Invitation to You
Take time. For you.
Step away from the pace, the expectations, the endless “shoulds.” Come as you are, and let yourself land.
Your energy is sacred. Who and what you spend it on is the experience of a lifetime. Give yourself permission to rest and then carry that steadiness forward into your world.
Burnout to rebirth. Let’s go.
With love,
Jazzy
